The Aledan - A Review

Not long after I published my first novel The Aledan: A Psionic Love Story on Kindle Direct, I asked my old friend Cindy Emmons if she would read the book and write a review.  I knew she would give an honest opinion because we were members of the same writers' group for a number of years. Most of us were interested in science fiction and fantasy.

We made the rounds to nearby SF and Fantasy conventions in Toronto, Ontario and Buffalo to meet and talk with our favorite authors including: Anne McCaffery, C.J. Cherry, Frederick Pohl, Ben Bova, Orson Scott Card, Timothy Zahn, John Varley, Jerry Pournelle, and Larry Niven to name a few. We even hit World Cons in Chicago and Baltimore---places we could drive to in a day.

We would probably still be doing it, had she not moved to California while I remain in rural western New York.  One day, I may get out there to visit her.  We've talked about Comic Con---maybe another year.

Here is the short review:

 THE ALEDAN
Review by Cindy Emmons
The Aledan opens as a classic romance set among the stars.  Midway, it evolves into an engrossing study of two psychically bonded lovers, trying to survive on a world that oppresses its most gifted citizens.  For fans of space opera, there's a climactic shoot-out done with thoughts instead of guns, with results no less devastating.  Fans of adventure SF will probably be more satisfied than fans of contemporary hard SF.  The science is retro, having more to do with Golden Age pulps than the visions of Hawking and Musk.
